A rotary iron remover/magnetic separator is a device used to
separate magnetic and non-magnetic substances. The following is an
introduction to it:
The rotary iron remover/magnetic separator mainly utilizes the
strong magnetic field generated by permanent magnets or
electromagnets to adsorb magnetic particles in the materials onto
the surface of the rotating drum. As the drum rotates, the magnetic
particles are carried to a designated position, and then they are
separated from the drum through a scraper or other means, thus
achieving the separation of magnetic substances from non-magnetic
substances.
- Drum: Usually made of stainless steel or wear-resistant materials, with
a smooth surface to ensure that magnetic particles can be adsorbed
and separated smoothly. Permanent magnets or electromagnetic coils
are installed inside the drum to generate a magnetic field.
- Drive Device: It provides power to make the drum rotate, generally composed of
a motor, a speed reducer, and a coupling, etc. The drive device can
precisely control the rotation speed of the drum to meet the
separation requirements of different materials.
- Frame: It supports the entire equipment. Usually, it is made of a steel
structure and has sufficient strength and stability to ensure that
the equipment will not shake or deform during operation.
- Feeding Device: It uniformly conveys the materials to be separated onto the
surface of the drum, ensuring that the materials can fully contact
the drum under the action of the magnetic field and improving the
separation effect.
- Discharging Device: It includes components such as a scraper and a belt, which are
used to scrape off the magnetic particles adsorbed on the surface
of the drum or convey them to a designated collection container.
- In the Mining Field
- Ore Pre-selection: In the initial stage of mining, the rotary magnetic separator can
quickly separate magnetic ores from a large amount of gangue,
improving the grade of the ores to be selected later, and reducing
the transportation and ore grinding costs. For example, in
magnetite mining, it can pre-concentrate magnetic iron minerals and
reduce the processing amount of ineffective minerals.
- Tailings Recycling: Conduct a secondary screening of the tailings to recover the
residual magnetic minerals in them, improve the utilization rate of
resources, and reduce the environmental pressure caused by tailings
discharge. Some magnetic minerals such as a small amount of iron
and manganese in the tailings can create additional economic value
after being recovered by the rotary magnetic separator.
