How is PE Coated Paper Made?

The most common method for producing PE coated paper is extrusion coating:

1. Base Paper: High-quality paperboard (often called "cupstock" for cups, or other paper types for different applications) is fed into the machine from a large roll.

2. Extrusion: Polyethylene resin pellets are heated until molten in an extruder.

3. Coating Application: The molten PE is then extruded through a flat die, forming a thin, continuous film. This hot film is immediately pressed onto the surface of the moving paperboard.

4. Cooling & Bonding: The coated paper is quickly cooled, often against a chilled steel roller. This rapid cooling ensures the PE firmly adheres to the paper fibers, creating a strong, almost inseparable bond.

5. Winding: The finished PE coated paper is then wound into large rolls, ready for further processing (e.g., slitting, die-cutting, printing).

The thickness of the PE coating can be adjusted, typically ranging from a few grams per square meter (GSM) to 20 GSM or more, depending on the required barrier properties.

4. Paper Gram Choosing for cups
   Q: What is the optimum paper gram for hot drinks and for cold drinks?
   A:Usualy, hot drink using single PE coated paper or PBS coated paper; Cold drink use double PE coated cup paper or double PBS
   coated cup paper , Different cup size and different market using different gram. Please inquiry to get our suggestion!

5. Cup fan pcs/ton
   Q: How many pieces of paper cups can we make from each ton paper?
   A: Please send us your cup drawing-layout (means the opened dimension) Or tell us your cup size (Top diameter /Bottom diameter
   /Wall Height). We will estimate to you.

6. Bottom pcs/ton
   Q: How many cup bottom are needed for the 1ton precut & printed paper (cup body)?
   A: Usually the proportion is about 1:0.2 (means 1ton paper need about 0.2tons bottom paper, just for reference!). Certainly,
   different cup size, different gram, it's different. Please inquiry details!

7. Paper Printing.
   Q: Can you produce the printed & cut cup paper?
