ZF-R Series Industrial Motor Soft Starter
Industrial Soft Start is an advanced motor control device that integrates motor soft
start, soft stop, light-load energy-saving, and multiple protection
functions. It is widely used in industrial production to enhance
the stability, reliability, and efficiency of equipment operation.
I. Working Principle
Industrial soft starters use three-phase anti-parallel thyristors
as voltage regulators, which are connected between the power supply
and the motor stator. By controlling the conduction angle of the
thyristors, the motor input voltage gradually increases from zero
according to a preset function relationship until the start-up
process is completed, and the motor is supplied with full voltage.
During the soft start process, the motor starting torque gradually
increases, and the speed also gradually increases, achieving a
smooth motor start-up.
II. Main Functions
- Smooth Start: The soft starter can gradually increase the motor input voltage
during the start-up process, achieving a smooth motor start-up,
reducing the starting current, and minimizing the impact on the
power grid and equipment.
- Soft Stop: When the motor needs to be stopped, the soft starter gradually
reduces the conduction angle of the thyristors, causing the motor
input voltage to gradually decrease, and the motor speed to
gradually slow down, achieving a smooth motor stop.
- Light-Load Energy-Saving: During light-load operation of the motor, the soft starter can
automatically reduce the motor input voltage, reducing copper and
iron losses in the motor, and achieving energy-saving operation.
- Multiple Protection Functions: The soft starter is equipped with overload protection, overheat
protection, undervoltage protection, phase loss protection, and
other protection functions to ensure the safe operation of the
motor.
III. Starting Methods
Industrial soft starters support multiple starting methods to adapt
to different application scenarios and requirements:
- Ramp Voltage Soft Start: The motor voltage gradually increases, causing the motor speed to
gradually increase, avoiding large current surges during motor
start-up.
- Double-Slope Voltage Start: Based on the ramp voltage soft start, a voltage reduction slope
is added, allowing the motor to more smoothly reach its rated speed
during start-up.
- Current-Limited Soft Start: Motor start-up is controlled by limiting the motor current,
keeping the motor current within a safe range and protecting the
motor and power grid.
- Step Start: A relatively large voltage is directly applied to the motor to
achieve rapid start-up, causing the motor to suddenly reach its
rated speed.
- Ramp Constant Current Soft Start: Combines ramp voltage and current-limited soft start. During
start-up, the motor voltage gradually increases while the current
is limited within a safe range.
- Pulse Impact Start: The motor receives a series of pulse signals to achieve rapid
start-up, suitable for applications requiring very short start-up
times.
