What is HTN LCD?

HTN (High Twisted Nematic) is a variation of TN (Twisted Nematic) LCDs that offers:

• Higher twist angle (about 110° to 160°, compared to 90° for TN)

• Better viewing angles than standard TN

• Lower cost than STN (Super Twisted Nematic)

• Faster response time than STN

• Common in segment LCDs, not dot-matrix or graphic LCDs

What does “Positive Mode” mean?

In positive mode LCDs:

• Segments appear dark on a light background in transmissive or reflective displays.

• Depending on the backlight and polarizer configuration, backlit displays often show light segments on a dark background.

• Requires positive voltage bias to activate segments.
