Production Process

Step 1: Material Preparation & Fiber Extrusion

  • Polypropylene (PP) Fiber Extrusion: High-melt-index PP pellets (selected for tensile strength) are melted in an extruder at 180–220°C. The molten PP is extruded through spinnerets to form continuous filaments, which are then drawn (stretched) to align polymer chains—enhancing strength and reducing permanent elongation.
  • PE Twine Manufacturing: Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) or linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) pellets are extruded into thin filaments, which are twisted into fine twine. This twine is engineered for flexibility and impact resistance, serving as a reinforcing layer.
  • Nylon Fiber Extrusion: Marine-grade nylon pellets (nylon 6 or 6,6) are melted and extruded into filaments, then drawn to boost abrasion resistance and elasticity—critical for marine durability.

Step 2: Yarn Spinning & Strand Assembly

  • PP filaments are twisted into thick yarns (the core load-bearing component). These PP yarns are wrapped with PE twine to add structural cohesion and buffer against friction.
  • Nylon filaments are twisted into yarns and combined with the PP-PE core to form three separate "composite strands." Each strand is twisted in a consistent direction (e.g., S-twist) to ensure uniformity, with tension controlled to avoid strand distortion.

Step 3: 3-Strand Twisting (Closing)

The three composite strands (PP-PE core + nylon outer layer) are fed into a closing machine, where they are twisted together in the opposite direction of their individual twist (e.g., Z-twist). This counter-twisting creates interlocking between strands, maximizing overall strength and preventing unraveling. The twisting speed and tension are calibrated to achieve the rope’s target diameter and flexibility.

Step 4: Post-Treatment for Marine Performance

  • Coating Application: The rope is coated with a marine-grade finish (containing UV inhibitors and anti-fouling agents) to resist sunlight degradation and saltwater corrosion.
  • Heat Setting & Washing: It is heat-treated to stabilize the twist (preventing shrinkage in water) and washed to remove manufacturing residues.
  • Cutting & End Sealing: The continuous rope is cut to custom lengths (per application needs). Both ends are heat-sealed or crimped to prevent fraying. A final quality check verifies tensile strength, diameter consistency, and surface integrity.
