3. Impact Test Steps
a) Determine the headform to be used according to the requirements
of Appendix A
b) Wear the sample on the headform according to the manufacturer's
instructions
c) Install the acceleration sensor in the ball head and connect it
to the sliding arm through the ball arm
d) Install the flat shoe and make the helmet body just contact with
the flat shoe
e) Adjust the free fall distance from the contact point to the flat
shoe to (1380±5) mm
f) Release the headform and record the peak acceleration and
cumulative time
g) Select another point of the sample to just contact with the flat
shoe
h) Repeat (e) to (f)
i) Install the hemispherical shoe and make the helmet body just
contact with the hemispherical shoe
j) Adjust the free fall distance from the contact point to the flat
shoe to (1020±5) mm
k) Release the headform and record the peak acceleration and
cumulative time
l) Select another point of the sample that just touches the
hemisphere
m) Repeat j)~k)
