Basic Introduction
It is mainly applicable to the determination of the surface
combustion characteristics of building materials and the flame
spread rate of exposed surfaces such as walls, ceilings (including
solid plastics), and at the same time to measure smoke density.
This testing method is applicable to exposed ceilings or walls,
provided materials or general assemblies, with their own structural
quality or testing aspects and aimed at using positions or support
periods that can support themselves. This method determines the
corresponding combustion behavior of the material by observing the
spread of the flame along the sample. The development of flame
spread and smoke density was reported, but this is not necessarily
the relationship between the two measurements.
Meet the standards
ASTM E84: Standard test method for burning characteristics of
building materials surfaces;
UL723: Test Standard Requirements for Surface Burning
Characteristics of Building Materials;
Grade classification
ASTM E84 Class A requirements: 0 < FSI value ≤25 and smoke index
< 450
ASTM E84 Class B requirements: 26≤FSI value ≤75 and smoke index
< 450
ASTM E84 Class C requirements: 76≤FSI value ≤200 and smoke index
< 450
ASMT E84 test sample requirements: 7320mm×530mm× thickness
Combustion system
1. 10kV spark igniter, equipped with a safety ceasefire device. The
igniter is automatically positioned through a lever connected to
the shut-off mechanism:
2. The combustion heat of the burner is automatically controlled by
the automatic gas flow control system. The reading accuracy is 1%
3. Bipolar gas flow valve control system: To prevent gas leakage in
the system caused by solenoid valve failure, thereby avoiding
explosion risks
4. The variable frequency fan automatically controls the wind speed
in the flue: Fan power 3KW, voltage 380V
5. Taiwanese brand gas pressure gauges and pressure regulating
valves precisely control gas pressure
6. Brand gas flow control valve, precisely controlling gas flow
