Product Details
SPD Surge Protectors for Low-Voltage Enclosures Transient
Overvoltage Shield
Product Describe:
• Protection against transient overvoltage: In low-voltage switchgear, surge protectors (SPDs) can divert
transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes, power grid
switching, or equipment faults to the ground. This protects
sensitive components such as circuit breakers, contactors, and
meters from damage, and avoids downtime in industrial plants,
commercial buildings, or data centers.
• Integration with system design: Surge protectors are installed at the incoming line end (Type 1
SPD) or downstream distribution points (Type 2 SPD), and work in
coordination with overcurrent protection devices to prevent false
tripping. For example, in factory switchgear that supplies power to
motors or automation systems, surge protectors can limit voltage
spikes to ≤2.5kV, ensuring the stable operation of programmable
logic controllers (PLCs) and frequency converters.
• Enhancement of system reliability: In critical application scenarios (such as medical facilities,
telecommunications hubs), multi-stage surge protectors (Type 1 +
Type 2) can provide layered protection.

Suggestion:
1. Selection Adaptation: Choose types according to scenarios. Use Type 1 SPDs (Imax ≥ 15kA) for outdoor incoming line cabinets,
and equip Type 2 SPDs (In ≥ 5kA) on the indoor load side; adopt a Type 1 + Type 2 combination in critical scenarios such as
medical settings to ensure a residual voltage ≤ 1.5kV.
2. Installation Optimization: Keep the distance from the main
circuit breaker ≤ 5 meters, and connect a fuse (100A/10kA) in
series at the incoming line end to prevent overload; add a decoupling inductor in front of sensitive equipment to avoid
interference from SPD operation.
3. Material and Protection: Use 304 stainless steel for the shell
(with IP65 protection), and apply an anti-salt spray coating in
coastal areas; select tinned silver copper terminals with a current-carrying
capacity ≥ 160A.
4. Function Enhancement: Equipped with a remote signaling interface
(dry contact) for real-time monitoring of SPD status; provided with a thermal backup module that automatically switches
in case of failure to ensure continuous protection.
