Rosmarinic acid is a natural phenolic acid compound formed by the condensation of caffeic acid and 3,4-dihydroxyphenyllactic acid. Rosmarinic acid is relatively stable and appears as a white to brown solid. It is primarily found in various plants, including the Lamiaceae, Boraginaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Tiliaceae, and Apiaceae families. Its content in Perilla leaves can reach 20% (w/w).
