Customer evaluation
These are a very well-designed light set. They work well and best
of all, the app is VERY well designed....which nowadays is rare.
You can not only set color and temperature (cool/warm) but each
segment can be set. It makes very high-tech, amazing looking
lights. And in the cool white mode, it looks very fluorescent, so
it can look very "normal" when needed, or very amazingly colorful
when needed. The app also includes things like saved color schemes
and auto-brightness. Maybe a feature I would add would be some
widgets for on/off or color settings, to avoid booting up the app
when not needed.
Installation is very clear and very easy. The tape works well, and
the little tabs (though not super smooth) are fine for the job. The
big flaw is that due to how these tabs are configured, installation
has to start away from the power source. So you have to map out
exactly where you want it to end, and hope it is right by the time
you get to the power source.
And then once everything is on and you can see how it looks, if you
want to add to/remove segments, there is no way. You would have to
pop the far end off the wall, maybe re-tape that end, try the new
segment. Then if it doesn't work like you want and you need to move
it, you would have to un-tape not only the segment to be removed,
but the one next to it holding it down.
A much better system would be to have installation in the other
direction, so adding/removing segments is always possible without
removing the one next to it. Because if you really want to get
technical the way it is now...pulling off the far segment which is
tucked under the previous segment, the previous segment pulls off
the next segment, etc, etc...so it is an all-or-nothing
installation.
I realize this is easier said than done, and may make the last
segment require a small tab on the end, and maybe with some
creative taping, popping just the end off a tiny bit is possible,
but a protruding tab solves so many issues that it may be worth it.
But my rating is still at 5-stars, it shows that the lights are
amazing enough that even with this installation design flaw, it
well deserves the highest rating.
