The Allen-Bradley 2198-H070-ERS2 is a Kinetix 5500 Servo drive. This servo drive is designed to cater cost-effectivity requirements such as scalability for future enhancements with support for modern controllers for direct integration. Compatible controllers are the Logix Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) platform wherein drive parameters can be directly linked with CompactLogix, ControlLogix and GuardLogix controller.

Integration with the Logix platform is termed as premiere integration. Communication between controller(s) and the 2198-H070-ERS2 is implemented over Ethernet communication network as the 2198-H070-ERS2 is provided with dual Ethernet communication interface that supports linear and Device Level Ring (DLR) topology.

The 2198-H070-ERS2 has input supply voltage requirement of 195-264 VAC, 3-phase with nominal input of 240 VAC and 324-528 VAC, 3-phase with nominal input of 480 VAC. It has bus output parameters of 22.50 A continuous output and 67.5 A peak output while the continuous output power is 7.2 kW @ 230 Vrms, 3-Phase and 14.9 kW @ 480 Vrms, 3-phase. The motor applicable output ratings include continuous output current of 23.0 A and peak output current of 81.3 A while motor applicable output power are 7.0 kW @ 195-264 Vrms, 3-Phase and 14.6 kW @ 324-528 Vrms, 3-phase.

The2198-H070-ERS2 is equipped with Bus Overvoltage and undervoltage protection as wel las short-circuit current detection. Bus overvoltage is detected at 440 VDC @ 240 VAC input and 810 VDC @ 480 VAC input while Bus undervoltage is triggered at 138 VDC @ 240 VAC and 275 VDC @ 480 VAC input. Short circuit current is rated at 200,000 A, symmetrical.

The Allen-Bradley 2198-H070-ERS2 is a Kinetix 5500 servo drive with integrated safety features. It has an innovative, compact design, requiring less panel space and only one cable can be used to simplify the system wiring. It delivers high-performance and scalability at a low cost with the motor windings matched to the drive ratings, providing more efficient system sizing. The 2198-H070-ERS2 also has dual Ethernet ports, allowing support for linear and DLR (Device Level Ring) topologies. The capability to run both the induction and servo motors in one drive platform further simplifies the system operation and maintenance.

The 2198-H070-ERS2 drive requires a 3-phase 190 - 528V AC input voltage at a 47 - 63 Hz frequency. It has 23.7A main AC input current, 60A max inrush (0-peak), and 71.1A peak AC input current. It has continuous and peak output current of 23A and 57.5A at RMS (root mean square) values and 32.5 and 81.3 at 0-peak values respectively. It weighs 9 lbs. and has a dimension of 3.35 x 8.9 x 11.57 in. It has 97% efficiency with capacitive energy absorption of 104.87 J. The 2198-H070-ERS2 offers an innovative common AC/DC bus connection for multi-axis applications. The integrated safety features allow for complete project integration in Logix Designer applications for motion, control, and safety.
