Application of 317 and 317L stainless steel
The corrosion resistance of 317 is similar to that of 316, and its high molybdenum content ensures that it has stronger overall and local corrosion resistance in most media, such as sulfuric acid, acidic chlorine and phosphoric acid. In strong oxidizing acids such as nitric acid, 317 is easily corroded.
The performance of 317L is basically the same as that of 317. Due to the lower carbon content, 317L has better weldability and intergranular corrosion resistance at high temperatures (427~816°C) than 317.
317&317L are usually used in flue gas desulfurization system, chemical and petrochemical processing, food and beverage industry, petroleum refining, condenser of generator equipment, paper industry, etc.
