Polycrystalline silicon solar cell modules are made into polycrystalline silicon ingots by casting and directional solidification, and then made into polycrystalline silicon wafers by cutting, grinding and other processes, and then made through cleaning, diffusion, deposition of antireflection film, screen printing electrode and sintering. The casting method does not need to go through the single crystal drawing process to manufacture the polysilicon sheet, which consumes less energy than the single crystal silicon cell, and the shape is not limited. It can be made into a square convenient for the layout of photovoltaic modules; In addition to not requiring single crystal drawing process, mature processes for manufacturing single crystal silicon cells can be applied in the manufacturing of polycrystalline silicon cells.

The efficiency of polycrystalline silicon cells can reach 18%, which is slightly lower than that of monocrystalline silicon cells. Compared with monocrystalline silicon battery, polycrystalline silicon battery has lower efficiency, but it saves energy, saves silicon raw materials, and achieves the balance of process cost and efficiency.
