High gastrin 17 usually indicates that the patient may suffer from gastritis, gastric ulcer, gastric cancer and other gastric diseases.
Gastrin 17, also known as small gastrin, is one of the important
hormones secreted by gastric antrum cells. Can stimulate gastric
acid secretion and gastrointestinal motility. Specific values can
be measured by blood sampling. The normal value of gastrin 17
should be between 1-15ng/l.
Detection of gastrin 17 can determine a variety of diseases, which has important clinical significance. Gastrin is mainly a gastrointestinal hormone secreted by the gastric antrum, which mainly reflects the secretory function of the gastric mucosa. The normal value of gastrin is generally 1-15. Slightly higher if the patient's gastrin is 17. Elevated gastrin is mainly caused by inflammation of the stomach, mainly associated with gastric ulcers and Helicobacter pylori infection. In addition, long-term use of drugs such as proton pump inhibitors can lead to achlorhydria, which can lead to an increase in gastrin. Notably, increased gastrin is also associated with gastric cancer, which may also lead to increased gastrin. If the patient has increased gastrin, other tests should be improved and the cause determined before treatment. Gastrin is a hormone secreted by the stomach that stimulates and promotes the secretion of gastric acid.
Common causes of elevated gastrin are low stomach acid or the presence of a tumor.
1. Patients with low gastric acid can promote the increase of gastrin through self-regulation;
2. The increase of gastrin-releasing cells or the occurrence of tumors can lead to the increase of gastrin in the body;
3. Some patients with atrophic gastritis can also report a large amount of gastric secretin, the possible causes should be specifically analyzed.
The detection of gastrin 17 is an important indicator of the four
detections of gastric mucosal serum. Gastrin regulates and
maintains the function of the digestive tract. If gastrin 17 is
high, it may be due to indigestion and gastritis caused by
irregular diet and overeating. Drugs that predispose to
achlorhydria, such as proton pump inhibitors, also cause increased
gastrin secretion and elevated gastrin 17.
