Characteristics Of Food Wastewater


Food wastewater is generally a complex mixture, and its purification treatment often requires a combination of different technologies into a process flow. The choice of process flow has a great influence on the treatment effect, floor area, operation management, capital construction cost, treatment cost and other important parameters. Therefore, it is very important to determine the treatment process of wastewater by understanding its quality characteristics.


Water quality analysis of food wastewater, wastewater pollution concentration is high, containing animal and vegetable oil, salt, food additives, fermentation bacteria, protein, fat, lignin, cellulose, fructose, pectin, sodium metabisulfite, sodium sulfite, lactic acid, glacial acetic acid and so on, the wastewater is acidic. According to the ratio of BOD5 /COD, the wastewater has good biodegradability. But in fact, the waste water is not easy to corrupt, and it is difficult for biological bacteria to grow in the waste water environment. Therefore, proper physical, chemical and biochemical treatment should be adopted to discharge the wastewater to the standard.


There are many ways of physical and chemical treatment and biochemical treatment, and only reasonable process and control can ensure the standard.


Generally speaking, physicochemical treatment as the pretreatment of wastewater, that is, the use of a shorter process, significantly reduce the concentration of pollution, for the subsequent biochemical treatment to create conditions; Biochemical treatment, as a secondary treatment of wastewater, removes dissolved organic pollutants from wastewater.


1. Physical and chemical treatment


  • Drain well

Because waste water contains animal and vegetable oil, fat. The effective treatment method of oil is oil isolation and air flotation. We choose gravity separation oil trap to coarsely granulate oil, that is, the oil trap is filled with oil-hydrophilic and hydrophobic materials to gather oil particles. When the oil particles become large, they float up because the specific gravity is lighter than that of water, and then the floating oil is removed by fishing.


  • The flotation

Flotation is the process of chemical demulsification, coagulation and removal of dispersed oil and part of floating oil by air flotation. According to the characteristics of wastewater in this project, it is obvious that the flotation function can not be well played if only oil is removed by flotation method. Through the experiment, after adjusting the pH and coagulation reaction, the suspended solids in the wastewater are lighter, and the precipitation time is longer, so flotation can achieve twice the result with half the effort.


2. Biochemical treatment of food wastewater


After air flotation by coagulation, the biodegradability of the wastewater can be cleared. In addition to the addition of biological agents, the microbial method is used to treat this kind of wastewater. After analysis and comparison, we recommend the selection of floatation, anaerobic and aerobic respectively


  • U/A/S/B reactor

It can adapt to high concentration wastewater, strong impact load resistance, good granular sludge character, and can adapt to S food wastewater treatment after intensive inoculation.


  • Aerobic process

The main removal objects of aerobic biological treatment are dissolved and colloidal organic pollutants in sewage. Through the metabolism of microorganisms to be transformed and stabilized, to achieve harmless.


Main advantages of biological contact oxidation:


(1) Due to the large specific surface area of fillers and good oxygenation conditions in the tank, the biomass per unit volume in the oxidation tank is higher than that in the activated sludge aeration tank and biological filter tank, which can achieve a higher volume load;


(2) There are a large number of highly active microorganisms on the fillers of the contact oxidation pool, which can quickly adsorb, synthesize and oxidize organic matter in sewage. Because the aging biofilm on the filler will constantly fall off, so that the biofilm attached to the filler can maintain high activity for a long time, so the sludge reflux is not needed, the sludge yield is low, no sludge bulking, and the operation is stable


(3) High oxygen utilization rate;


(4) Compared with activated sludge process and oxidation ditch process, although the volume load of contact process is higher, the sludge yield is lower, mainly because: a. The microbial chain in the oxidation pool is relatively complete and stable. b. The endogenous respiration of microorganisms is more complete, and the synthetic substances are further oxidized; c. There are anoxic and anaerobic zones in the biological filler, which can partially decompose and transform organic matter.
