Electromagnetic Time Domain Geophysical Instrument with 10KW Transmitter for subsoil prospecting

Electromagnetic methods play a very important role in geophysics, since through their various variants(TEM),they help with subsoil prospecting. The depth of investigation depends on the techniques used, as well as the frequency range, size and separation of coils, and acquisition time; For example, TDEMs are mostly used for deep geological, geohydrological and structural investigations. In summary, these methods are based on the induction of electromagnetic fields in the subsoil in order to obtain the variation of the characteristics of the medium, which are interpreted as conductivity, frequency, phase, etc. depending on the technique.

The Transient Time Domain Electromagnetic Survey (TDEM) is a widely utilized geophysical method for determining subsurface electrical resistivity. It operates by continuously injecting electric current through a coil or loop, thereby creating a primary magnetic field. When the current is abruptly cut off, the primary magnetic field is disrupted, resulting in the electromagnetic induction of electric currents within the subsurface. These currents follow closed paths and spread vertically and horizontally, gradually losing strength over time. As a consequence, a transient secondary magnetic field is generated. This secondary field induces a voltage that varies with time. By analyzing the decay of this voltage over time, valuable information regarding subsurface resistivity can be extracted. This resistivity data is then correlated with the geological characteristics of the area, enabling the creation of an approximate model of the subsurface environment.

The applications of TDEM encompass a range of fields including geohydrology, geothermal exploration, and mining.
