Providing the relay with eight Fast Form-C Digital Outputs, General Electric Multilin’s UR-6FH is a Digital I/O Module intended for the Universal Relays series. The Direct I/O module allows the relay to communicate with equipment in the power system, rapidly transmitting information and applying it for monitoring, management, and protection purposes.
While this version of the module comes with the Fast Form-C outputs, there are other Digital I/O modules that provide different forms of outputs for the relay. A few of the typing options are as follows:
Form-A Digital Outputs: Form-A digital outputs are typically open contacts with one common terminal (C) and one normally open terminal (NO), and is isolated from ground.
Form-C Digital Outputs: Form-C digital outputs are Single Pole-Double Throw, offering one common terminal (C), one normally open terminal (NO), and one normally closed terminal (NC). This digital output type is able to “changeover” from one terminal type to the other.
Fast Form-C Digital Output: The Fast Form-C digital output is structured similarly to the regular Form-C but operates at a faster rate. While the operate time of the regular From-C output is < 8 ms, the operating time of the Fast Form-C is reduced to < 0.6 ms.
