Wireless Real-time Tire Pressure Monitoring System 4 External Sensor Model TPMS With Psi

Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems

Tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) are becoming increasingly popular, creating new service opportunities for dealers, garages and tire shops. Since November 2014, all newly registered vehicles in the European Union must be equipped with this modern technology. With its well-designed parts and high-performance equipment, VDO puts you in a perfect position to offer the enquired service.

What Are the Different Types of Systems?

The two main types of tire pressure monitoring technology are TPMS and iTPMS. However, there are also two main types of sensors used by tire pressure monitoring systems. The main type of TPMS uses sensors that are built into the valve stems of each tire. Each valve stem assembly has a sensor, transmitter, and battery built into it. These components are hidden inside the wheels, and they can only be accessed by removing the tire. Most OEMs use this type of TPMS, but there are a few downsides.

The sensors are typically very expensive, and they tend to be somewhat fragile.

The other type of TPMS uses sensors that are built into the valve stem caps. Each cap contains a sensor, transmitter, and battery just like the in-wheel versions. However, this type can be installed without demounting the tires. The primary disadvantage is that the sensors are readily identifiable, which makes them vulnerable to theft. Both types of TPMS also have other advantages and disadvantages.

Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) Functions:

Air Leakage Monitoring: alarm the leakage and reduce risk factors

Prevent tire burst: monitor the inside of the tyres and gives off alarm properly. It will help to avoid any traffic accident caused by tyre blow-out

Avoid Vehicle Deviation: when the tire pressure is in consistent, it will lead to an imbalance and caused vehicle deviation

Reduce the tire wearing loss and extend service life: The friction force increases with the increasing contact area between the wheel and the ground when low pressure of tire.

Reducing fuel consumption: when tire pressure is lower than standard value 30%, oil consumption straight up 10%

Easy to use:

Step 1: Install the APP “TPMS”

Step 2: Use the APP, Bluetooth pairing with the sensor, easy monitor pressure and temperature of tire

Why is there a need for Tire Pressure Monitoring?

Tire Pressure Monitoring helps drivers to properly maintain their vehicle tires, improves vehicle safety and aid fuel efficiency. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US has estimated that 533 fatalities per annum are caused by tire defects in road accidents. Adding TPMS to all vehicles could avoid 120 of the 533 yearly victims and save as many as 8,400 injuries every year. Sécurité Routière (the French Institution for Road Safety) estimates that 9% of all fatal road accidents are attributable to tire under-inflation and the German DEKRA estimated that 41% of accidents with physical injuries are linked to tire problems. Tires leak air naturally and over a year a typical new tire can lose between 3 and 9 psi. As most drivers only check their tires at service intervals and when problems occur there is significant scope for fuel savings and efficiencies.

Given this background the US Federal government has legislated for the mandatory use of TPMS. The TPMS mandated by the US law must warn the driver when a tire is under-inflated by as much as 25%.
