DAF Truck Cab Air Spring
DAF truck cab air spring system is one of the core components of
its suspension system, mainly used to improve driving comfort,
reduce shock and noise, and protect the cab structure.
1. Structure and composition
DAF truck cab air springs are usually composed of the following key
components:
Airbag (air spring body): Made of multiple layers of rubber and
cord layers, filled with compressed air to provide elastic support.
Height control valve: Automatically adjust the air pressure in the
airbag according to the load of the cab and the vibration of the
road surface to maintain the height stability of the cab.
Air compressor: Provides compressed air to the system (some models
share the air source with the vehicle pneumatic system).
Damper (shock absorber): Cooperates with air springs to suppress
high-frequency vibrations.
Air pipes and joints: Connect various components to ensure air
tightness.
2. Working principle
Dynamic adjustment: The height control valve monitors the
displacement of the cab in real time. When the bumpy road causes
the cab to sink, the valve inflates to increase the airbag
pressure; otherwise, the exhaust reduces the pressure to maintain
horizontal stability.
Shock absorption function: The flexible characteristics of the air
spring can absorb road impact and reduce the vibration transmitted
to the cab.
Load adaptability: Under different loads or road conditions, the system automatically adjusts the stiffness (the higher the air pressure, the greater the stiffness).
3. Technical advantages
Comfort: Compared with traditional leaf springs, air springs can
significantly reduce high-frequency vibrations by more than 80%,
improving long-distance driving comfort.
Durability: Rubber airbags have strong fatigue resistance and a service life of more than 100,000 kilometers (depending on the working conditions).
Lightweight: Lighter than metal springs, it helps to reduce the weight of the vehicle.
Height adjustable: Convenient for docking with the chassis or adjusting the height of the cab during maintenance.
4. Common faults and diagnosis
Airbag leakage:
Symptoms: The cab is tilted or frequently refilled.
Causes: Rubber aging and cracking, joint seal failure, foreign body puncture.
Detection: Spray soapy water to find bubbles, or listen for leaks.
Height control valve failure:
Symptoms: The cab cannot remain level or responds slowly.
Cause: Valve body mechanical jam, sensor failure.
Insufficient system air pressure:
Symptoms: Shock absorption effect decreases, compressor starts frequently.
Cause: Air compressor failure, pipe blockage or dryer failure.
