HastelloyC-4 is an austenitic low - carbon nickel - molybdenum -
chromium alloy.
The main differences between Nicrofer 6616 hMo and other alloys
with similar chemical compositions developed earlier are low
carbon, silicon, iron, and tungsten contents.
The chemical composition in the 650-1040 ℃ show excellent
stability, improve the ability of resistance to intercrystalline
corrosion, under the condition of appropriate manufacturing can
avoid the edge line corrosion sensitivity and weld heat affected
zone of corrosion.
Hastelloy c-4 is characterized by:
Excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media, especially
in reduction state.
Excellent local corrosion resistance in halides.

Hastelloy c-4 mechanical properties:
The minimum values in the table below are the vertical and
horizontal measured data of the samples with the standard size and
specification (solid solution treatment state). The properties of
products with special specifications and special materials can be
customized according to customers' requirements.
Hastelloyc-4iso-v notch test:
Mean 120J/cm2 room temperature
120 j/cm2-196 ℃ or higher
Hastelloy c-4 metallographic structure:
Hastelloy c-4 is a face centered cubic lattice structure, whose
chemical composition ensures metallographic stability and
resistance to sensitization.
Corrosion resistance:
The high content of molybdenum and chromium enables Hastelloy c-4
alloy to resist corrosion by a variety of chemical media, including
reducing media, such as phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid,
sulfuric acid, chlorine gas, organic or inorganic
chlorine-containing media.
Because of its high nickel content, Hastelloy c-4 is effectively
resistant to stress corrosion cracking caused by chlorine, even in
hot chloride solutions.

Hastelloy c-4 processing and heat treatment:
Hastelloy c-4 alloy can be manufactured and processed by
traditional manufacturing process.
HastelloyC - 4 heating:
Always keep the workpiece clean and free from pollution before and
during heat treatment.
Do not touch sulfur, phosphorus, lead and other low melting point
metals during heat treatment, otherwise Nicrofer 6616 hMo alloy
will become brittle, attention should be paid to remove such dirt
as marking paint, temperature indicating paint, colored crayons,
lubricating oil, fuel and so on.
The lower the sulfur content in the fuel, the better. The sulfur
content in natural gas should be less than 0.1%, and the sulfur
content in heavy oil should be less than 0.5%.
Electric furnace heating is a better choice, because the electric
furnace can be accurate temperature control, clean furnace gas.
If the furnace gas is pure enough, you can also choose.
The furnace gas of heating furnace should be neutral to micro
reductive. The fluctuation of furnace gas between oxidizing and
reductive should be avoided. The heating flame cannot directly burn
to the workpiece.
Hastelloy c-4 hot working:
Hastelloy C - 4 hot working temperature range of 1080 ℃ ~ 900 ℃,
the cooling way for fast cooling water or other way.
In order to ensure the best anti-corrosion performance, the
solution heat treatment should be carried out after hot processing.
Hastelloy c-4 cold working:
When cold working, the workpiece should be in the state of solid
solution heat treatment, and the machining hardening rate of
Hastelloy c-4 is greater than that of austenitic stainless steel,
so it is necessary to select the processing equipment.
There should be intermediate annealing during cold rolling.
If the deformation of cold rolling is more than 15%, the workpiece
needs to be treated with secondary solid solution.
Hastelloy c-4 heat treatment:
Hastelloy C - 4 solid solution treatment temperature range is 1050
℃ ~ 1100 ℃.
For materials with a thickness of less than 1.5mm, the recommended
cooling method is water quenching or rapid air cooling to obtain
the maximum corrosion resistance.The workpiece must be kept clean
during heat treatment.
Scale removal:
Hastelloy c-4's surface oxides and slag around the weld have a
stronger adhesion than stainless steel, and fine steel is
recommended
Grinding by crystal sand belt or fine crystal grinding wheel.
Before acid pickling with HNO3/HF mixed acid, the oxide film must
be sandblasted or polished to break up.
Machining:
Hastelloy c-4 is machined in an annealed state.
Since the machining hardening of Nicrofer 6616 hMo is relatively
high, it is advisable to use low cutting speed and heavy feed for
machining before driving into the surface layer of cold hardening.
Hastelloy c-4 welding:
Hastelloy c-4 can be used in a variety of welding processes, such
as tungsten inert gas welding, plasma arc welding, manual subarc
welding, metal inert gas welding, fusion inert gas welding.
Pulse arc welding is preferred.
Application:
It has been widely used in the chemical and petrochemical fields,
such as in the components and catalytic systems in contact with
organics containing chloride.
This material is especially suitable for high temperature, mixed
with impurities of inorganic acids and organic acids (such as
formic acid and acetic acid), seawater corrosion environment.

Pulp and paper industries, such as cooking and bleaching vessels
Washing tower, reheater and wet steam fan in FGD system
