This engine is a 6-cylinder inline, 4-stroke, water-cooled, turbocharged, intercooled, and direct-injection unit, known for its excellent power economy. The braking system is highly advantageous, featuring a dual-circuit compressed air service brake, a spring energy and compressed air-operated parking brake (emergency brake) on the rear wheels, and an auxiliary engine exhaust valve brake that enables continuously variable transmission.
