Description of Steel Suspension Bridge

The suspension bridge is a bridge with a tensile cable or chain as the main load-bearing member, and is composed of a suspension cable, a cable tower, an anchor bolt, a boom, and a bridge deck. The main load-bearing member of the suspension bridge is a suspension cable, which is mainly subjected to tensile force and is generally made of steel (steel wire, steel cable, etc.) with high tensile strength. Because the suspension bridge can make full use of the strength of the material, and has the characteristics of saving materials and light weight, the suspension bridge has the largest spanning ability in various system bridges, and the span can reach more than 1000 meters.

History
The first wire-cable suspension bridge was the Spider Bridge at Falls of Schuylkill (1816), a modest and temporary footbridge built following the collapse of James Finley's nearby Chain Bridge at Falls of Schuylkill (1808). The footbridge's span was 124 m, although its deck was only 0.45 m wide.
