Foam filled fenders are a type of marine fenders and floating
fenders system used for the mooring and berthing of ships. The foam
fenders adopt pure polyurea technology, combined with foam and
plastic materials, to ensure that they can float on the water
surface. They are widely applied in the construction field and the
marine industry. The foam filled marine fenders are composed of a
closed-cell EVA/PE foam core, a sprayed pure polyurea polyurethane
elastomer PU outer skin, and are reinforced by a tough middle nylon
layer, having a relatively high buoyancy themselves. Foam filled
fenders exert less pressure on the ship hulls and have a low
maintenance cost, being especially suitable for light-duty ships.
The marine foam filled fenders without a guard net are in a sling
type, with a customized colorful polyurea elastomer outer skin.
They are lighter than the netted foam cushion fenders. In the ship
and marine industry, these fenders are used as a protective warning
foam fendering system during ship-to-ship (STS) docking and
ship-to-quay (STQ) berthing.
The netted foam cushion fenders, due to their sturdy structure, are
particularly suitable for heavy-duty marine engineering and
construction fields. The netted polyurethane outer skin can protect
the foam fender bodies from scratches by external sharp objects
such as steel structures. Among the buoyancy floating devices, it
has a higher energy absorption performance and is a better
solution.
The pile donut fenders are installed on a pile and will float up
and down with the change of the tide. The donut foam fenders are
more ideal for areas with large tidal ranges. Their design purpose
is to protect the corners of the ships when they are ready to dock
or to serve as a turning dolphin. The performance of the donut foam
fenders is as excellent as that of the guard foam fenders, but the
designs are different.
The small standard-duty shipboard portable fenders are suitable for
the quick use of naval ships, boats, and in marine operations.
Their diameters range from 0.3 meters to 1.5 meters, etc. Normally,
the portable foam fenders are installed on both sides of the ships
by fiber ropes. The shipboard fenders can also be equipped with
fiber nets on the outside.
The floating foam filled fenders coated with rubber are a new type
of foam filled fenders developed in China. It has the same
appearance and shape as the guard foam filled fenders and the
netted foam cushion fenders. The difference lies in that its outer
skin is coated with rubber. The floating foam rubber fenders are
the best proven choice of fendering systems for the heavy-duty
marine construction field, especially in the harshest conditions.
We manufacture foam fenders in accordance with the standards of
PIANC (Permanent International Association of Navigation
Congresses) and industry standards. The foam filled fenders can be
tested by classification societies such as Bureau Veritas (BV),
American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), SGS (Société Générale de
Surveillance S.A.), Lloyd's Register of Shipping (Lloyds), and
China Classification Society (CCS).
Application Areas: Foam filled fenders are widely used in cruise ships, container
vessels, bulk cargo ships, roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ferries, oil and
gas tankers, as well as general cargo ships and naval berths for
ship-to-ship cargo transfers.
Installation Methods: Our foam filled fenders can be deployed either in a floating
state or in a suspended state. These marine fenders can be
installed against a quay wall or hung on the side of a ship with
chains or ropes during ship-to-ship operations and for protection.
Due to their special structural features, the solid foam filled
fenders are suitable for both small and large tidal changes.
Inspection of Foam Filled Fenders by Qingdao Luhang
Official inspection of foam filled fenders is the best guarantee
for their quality. The foam filled fenders can be inspected by
third-party organizations from classification societies such as
China Classification Society (CCS), American Bureau of Shipping
(ABS), Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LR), Bureau Veritas (BV),
DNV-GL, etc., and designated testing institutions such as TÜV.
According to the customer's requirements, each piece can be
inspected during bulk orders, or sample inspections can be carried
out. The inspection contents include visual appearance, dimensions,
quantity, etc. Our company is capable of conducting these
inspections, and we welcome representatives of third parties to
come to our factory for inspection.
