How long is "Too Long" for Win 7 Update?
About one hour and 20 min ago, I shutdown my Win 7 64 bit system
because I had one update pending. Of course, it says "Do not power
off or unplug your machine."
So, how much longer should I wait?
And then what should I do? Power off by pushing the Start button
for 5 sec, or
Just unplug it?
after 2+ hours of waiting, I gave up and pushed the start button
for 5 sec, then pushed again to restart. I got the warning that
Windows did not shut down properly
Any ideas what I can expect when I restart it?
Will it be able to be restarted?
Will I have to restart in Safe Mode?
Should there be a Restore Point before the Update?
It is probably best to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter, and
see if the computer can sort out its own problems. If that fails
then you must remove the Update Installation manually.
