DKDP is routinely used for Q-switching applications from the UV out to about 1.1 um where absorption limits its use in active cavities, although it can be useful at longer wavelengths when a few percent of absorption can be tolerated.

DKDP based Pockels cells are routinely used for Q-switching applications from the 400 nm to about 1.1um. Most of commercial flash-lamp pumped Nd:YAG lasers and low repetition rate DPSS Nd:YAG lasers are equipped with DKDP based Pockels cell for laser cavity Q-switching.

Elector-optical DKDP crystals have high laser power resistant dielectric AR coatings. Additionally some series Pockels cells have AR coated windows for improved lifetime and protection in less user friendly environment.
