• Lightning Protection Systems are normally divided into 2 types:

1. Exterior Direct Lightning Protection system ; (ese system lightning protection system is more popular)
2. Internal Lightning Protection system;

• SCOPE OF WORK

According to the international standards, especially the NFC 17-102, IEC 62-305 and EN 62561:2012 standards, ESE lightning protection system consists of the following elements:

1. ESE Air-termination system;
2. Down conductor;
3. Earth-termination system;
4. Lightning equipotential bonding.

Thus, the scope of the work is designed as follows:

• Supply and installation of external lightning protection system (Outdoor LPS)

1. Interception of direct lightning strikes via an ese air-termination system;
2. Safe discharge of lightning current to earth via a down-conductor system;
3. Distribution of the lightning current in the ground via an earth-termination system.

• ESE Lightning Protection Calculation - Radius Protection according to NF C 17-102:2011 Annexe C standard

The protection radius of TSTLP ese lightning protection system is related to its height (h) relative to the surface to be protected, to its efficiency and to the selected protection level

for h ≥ 5 m;

and

Rp = h × Rp(5)/5 for 2 m ≤ h ≤ 5 m

Rp (h) (m): is the protection radius at a given height h

h (m) : is the height of the ESE lightning protection tip over the horizontal plane through the furthest point of the object to be protected

r (m) : 20 m: level I

30m: level II

45m: level III

60m: level IV

Δ (m) = ΔT x 10⁶

Field experience has proved that Δ is equal to the efficiency obtained during the ESE lightning protection evaluation tests
