Fiberall recommends the following 6 steps when you purchase.

1, Choose correct connector type (LC / SC / ST / FC / MPO / MTP): different connectors are used in different devices. If the ports on both ends are the same, we can use the LC-LC / SC-SC / MPO-MPO jumper. If you want to connect different port type devices, the LC-SC / LC-ST / LC-FC fiber jumper may be suitable for you;

2, Choose single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cable: single mode fiber optic jumper using 9 / 125um fiber, multimode fiber jumper using 50 / 125um or 62.5 / 125um fiber. Single mode fiber patch cord is mainly used for long distance data transmission and multi mode optical fiber jumper is mainly used for short distance transmission. The sheath of the single mode fiber patch cable is yellow (or other color), and the sheath of the multimode fiber optic jumper is orange ( or other color);

3, Choose simplex, duplex or multi cores cable: simplex means that the optical fiber jumper with one fiber, each end with only one optical fiber connector and it is for bidirectional optical transceiver (BIDI). Duplex can be seen as two adjacent fiber optic jumper, used in ordinary optical transceiver. Multicore is used for high density cabling;

4, Choose correct cable length (1m / 5m / 10m / 20m / 30m / 50m): fiber patch cord length is different, usually from 0.5m to 50m. You should select the appropriate cable length based on the distance between the devices to be connected;

5, Choose right polishing type (UPC / APC): because loss of APC connector is lower than the UPC connector, usually, optical performance of APC connector is better than UPC connector. In the current market, APC connectors are widely used in applications such as FTTx, passive optical networks (PON) and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), which are more sensitive to return loss;

6, Choose correct sheath (PVC / LSZH / OFNP / armored): usually, there are three types of sheath/jacket: PVC, LSZH, OFNP.
