The remainder of this thesis is organized as follows. Chapter 2 presents thnecessary background concerning induction machines and ac drives, as well as adiscussion of induction motor faults. Chapter 3 details the features of induction motorsand machine learning techniques used in the new diagnostic method and the newmonitoring method presented in this thesis. Chapter 4 presents the new fault diagnostimethod and the new fault monitoring method. Chapter 5 presents experimentaverification of the new methods and an overall discussion of the results. Chapter 6 presents the conclusions.
