Definition:
Thermal deformation temperature (HDT) refers to the temperature at which a specified amount of deformation occurs under a certain load and a certain constant temperature rise. It represents the thermal stability of the material under continuous load.

Vicat softening point is the temperature at which a needle with a certain weight is inserted into a plastic sample at a depth of 1mm under specified conditions. It reflects the heat resistance of the material under heat and force

Test Method:
The test of thermal deformation temperature is usually to place the sample on the support of the specified span, apply the specified load, and then put the sample into the warming environment. When the deformation of the sample reaches the specified value, the recorded temperature is the thermal deformation temperature.

The test of Vicat softening point is to place the sample in the heating medium and press the sample with a standard pressure needle under a certain load. When the pressure needle is inserted into the sample 1mm, the recorded temperature is the Vica softening point
