Product Description:
The melt flow rate meter works by melting the plastic sample into a
heating cylinder and then pressing the melt into the tester by a
quantitative mold method. The piston in the tester applies the melt
pressure to the standard mouth die to flow out through the mouth
die, and the mass or time of the flowing melt is measured according
to the test mold used and the specific test conditions. Based on
the measurement results, parameters such as melt flow rate and flow
index can be calculated to evaluate the mobility energy of the
polymer.
Melt flow rate meters are widely used in industries such as plastic
production, plastic products, and petrochemicals, and are adopted
by colleges, research institutions, and inspection departments. It
evaluates the viscosity characteristics and processing performance
of materials by measuring the flow rate of polymers through pores
under certain conditions in the molten state, providing important
basis for quality control and research of plastic materials.
Principle:
The melt mass-fiow rate (MFR) and the melt volume-fow rate (MVR)
are determined by extruding molten material from the barrel of a
plastometer under preset conditions of temperature and load. For
meit mass-fow rate, timed segments of the extrudate are weighed and
the extrudate rate is calculated in g/10 min and recorded. For melt
volume-flow rate, the distance that the piston moves in a specified
time or the time required for the piston to move a specified
distance is measured to generate data in cm3/10 min. Meit
volume-fow rate may be converted to melt mass-fiow rate, or
vice-versa, if the density of the material is known under the
conditions of the test.
