Germanium substrate GE Flat Windows Optical Lenses Thermal Imaging
Applications and Infrared Spectroscopy High hardness
Germanium window (Ge) is a chemically inert material with a
permissive spectrum range of 2-12μm, which is a commonly used
infrared optical material, with high hardness, good thermal
conductivity, insoluble in water, etc., and is used in infrared
imaging systems and infrared spectrometer systems.
The window is one of the basic optical elements in optics, which is
usually used as a protective window for electronic sensors or
detectors to the external environment, and is used for the
isolation of the environment on both sides, such as separating the
inside and outside of the instrument, so that the inside and
outside of the instrument are isolated from each other, so as to
protect the internal components from interference, and the window
does not change the magnification of the system.
Features
Optical Properties:
- High light transmittance: Germanium has excellent light transmittance in the infrared band
(about 2 μm to 18 μm), making it ideal for infrared imaging and
spectroscopic analysis.
- Refractive index: Germanium has a refractive index of about 4.0 (at a wavelength of
10 μm) and is able to effectively focus and transmit infrared
light.
Mechanical Properties:
- Hardness: Germanium is relatively hard and has good wear resistance.
- Toughness: Germanium exhibits good toughness in a certain temperature range
and is able to withstand certain impacts.
- Thermal stability: It can still maintain stability under high temperature conditions,
and is suitable for applications in high temperature environments.
- Chemical stability: Good resistance to a wide range of chemicals, but caution is still
required in strong acids and bases.
