Description:
Gentamycin belongs to the group of aminoglycosides and acts
bactericidal against mainly Gram-negative bacteria like
E.coli,Klebsiella,Pasteurellaand Salmonella spp.The bactericidal action is
based on inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis.
Indications:
Gastrointestinaland respiratory infections caused by gentamycin sensitive bacteria,like E.coli,Klebsiella,Pasteurella and Salmonella
spp.,in calves,cattle,goats,sheep and swine.
Side effect:
Hypersensitivity reactions.
Gentamycin abuses may lead to neurotoxicity and nephrotoxicity
Dosage and Adimination:
Intramuscular or slow intravenous injection.
Poultry:0.05ml/kg b.w..
Horses and Cattle:4.00ml/100kg b.w.
Foaks and Calves:2.00ml/500kg b.w Dogs and Cats: 0.25ml/5kg b.w
Withdrawal times:
-For kidneys 45 days.
-For meat 7 days.
-For milk 3days.
