Due to the long read ranges of UHF readers, stock takes can achieved by walking down the aisle, the RFID reader reads the tags on the books without being taken off the shelf, the system can warn if a book looks to be out of place.

• Book Search

If a book is not found in its correct location, a hand held PDA reader can be used to search for the book. Read ranges of up to 1.5- 2 meters can be achieved with the PDA readers, this makes searching quick and easy.

• Security

RFID brings an added feature of security. Gateways of 2.5 meters can be achieved reducing the incidence of stolen books. UHF readers can read 100’s of tags a second so many items can be checked as they are going through the security gates rather than only a few

• Books management : Each books are fixed with RFID Labels which carry stored data, when the scanner finds a right book, a built-in beeper sounds. It is also possible to sort several books at a time. If any book from the list is detected, the scan will sound. Thus, search process will significantly speed up. And the Fixed readers in shelf are transmitted to an inventory database to library EPR system.

• Library Security System: Library staff is alerted immediately when un-borrowed items passes through the theft detection gates.

• Check in/out: Librarian uses the reader to scan tags of returned books; the labels in the articles are read automatically. To return a book a reader does not need to have a library card with him, as each book has its unique ID number. No errors can occur when returning. OR: when installing automatic check-out system, a reader puts a book in the book-drop, and when a book is inside and can’t be taken out, its tag is read automatically and the data about book return is then automatically downloaded to the database. The return status is displayed on the screen.
