Fiber glass fabrics are woven from glass fiber filaments yarns. There are two types of fiberglass cloth which are used for surfboard fiberglass cloth, E-glass or S-glass fabric. S-glass is about 50% higher than E-glass on tensile strength, meanwhile it is 25% stiffer in flex. S-glass has higher physical strength but it is also more expensive than very common e-glass fabric. Using S-glass reduces heel dings and prolongs the life of the board. However, E-glass is the most common fiberglass fabric and is always produced in large quantities. It is a ideal high strength and economical materials.
