ISO 179 - 1:2010 Plastics - Determination of Charpy impact properties - Part 1: Non - instrumented impact test
Product introduction:
The pendulum impact test device is an important device for
evaluating the impact resistance of materials. It releases the
pendulum from a certain height, impacts the sample fixed on the
fixture at a predetermined speed, and then measures the energy loss
of the pendulum during the impact process to determine the impact
toughness or impact resistance of the material.
The device is mainly composed of a pendulum, a rack, a sample
fixture, an energy measurement system and a control system. The
pendulum is the core component, and its mass and the length of the
swing arm determine the size of the impact energy; the rack
provides stable support for the entire device; the sample fixture
ensures that the sample is accurately positioned and firmly fixed
during the impact process; the energy measurement system accurately
records the energy difference before and after the pendulum impact;
the control system facilitates users to set test parameters and
operate the test process.

Impact testing machine application scope:
Applicable to all kinds of material production enterprises,
including metal smelting, plastic processing, composite material
manufacturing and other industries, for product quality control and
new material research and development. At the same time, it is also
suitable for material performance research and teaching experiments
in scientific research institutions, colleges and universities.
Impact testing machine application scenarios:
Material research and development: In the process of new material
development, the impact resistance of materials is tested by
pendulum impact test device in order to optimize material formula
and manufacturing process, and improve the toughness and
reliability of materials.
Quality control: In industrial production, regular pendulum impact
tests are carried out on raw materials and finished products to
ensure that the products meet relevant quality standards and
performance requirements. For example, in the automobile
manufacturing industry, impact tests are carried out on automobile
parts (such as bumpers, engine parts, etc.) to ensure the safety of
automobiles in collisions; in the production of plastic pipes, the
impact resistance of pipes is tested to ensure that they can
withstand certain external force impacts without breaking during
installation and use.
Product certification: Many products need to pass relevant
certifications before they are put on the market, such as building
materials, electronic and electrical products, etc. The pendulum
impact test device can be used to obtain product impact resistance
data to meet certification requirements.
Teaching and scientific research: As an important experimental
equipment, it helps students and researchers to deeply understand
the mechanical properties of materials and carry out related
scientific research projects in the teaching and scientific
research of materials science, mechanical engineering and other
related majors in colleges and universities and research
institutes.

Q1: How to choose the right pendulum energy?
The pendulum energy should be selected based on the expected impact
resistance of the material to be tested and the required test
accuracy. Generally, the energy of the pendulum should be at least
twice the energy required for the expected material to break.
Q2: How to interpret the test results?
The test results are usually expressed in impact absorption energy
(Joules), which reflects the energy absorption capacity of the
material under impact. Higher absorption energy means better impact
resistance.
Q3: What is the calibration and maintenance cycle of the equipment?
It is recommended to perform professional calibration at least once
a year and routine maintenance based on the frequency of use to
ensure the accuracy of the test results.
