IEC60335-1 Clause 14 Transient overvoltages
Appliances shall withstand the transient over-voltages to which they may be subjected.
Compliance is checked by subjecting each clearance having a value less than those specified in Table 16 to an impulse voltage test.
The impulse test voltage has a no-load wave shape corresponding to the 1,2/50 µs standard impulse specified in IEC 61180. The impulse test voltage is applied three times for each polarity with intervals of at least 1 s. IEC Test Equipment
