Conventional Coring Systems:
Conventional coring is a method of drilling and acquiring rock
samples. To retrieve the core samples, the complete rod string and
core barrel assembly has to be removed from the hole. Conventional
coring is much more time consuming than wireline coring, as each
rod has to be removed from the hole individually, then lowered back
into the hole to continue to advance the boring and collect the
next core sample.
ROSCHEN offers conventional coring systems in DCDMA sizes B, N, H, and P. Optional triple tube designs are available to enable core recovery when drilling in soft or highly fractured formations.

Conventional Head Assemblies:
ROSCHEN offers conventional coring systems in DCDMA sizes B, N, H,
and P.
Conventional Core Barrel Assemblies:
ROSCHEN offers conventional barrel assemblies in all standard DCDMA sizes. Optional thin kerf and triple tube systems are available to optimize productivty and core recovery in a variety of formations.
Standard (V) - our standard conventional core barrel assemblies are
recommended for most common coring applications, and available in
DCDMA sizes B, N, H, and P (call for A size systems).
Thin Kerf (V2)- thin kerf conventional core barrels are designed to
allow for a larger core sample while mainting the same hole size.
The conventional thin kerf barrel is available in N size (call for
additional sizes).
Triple Tube (V3) - triple tube conventional core barrels use a split liner to enable sample recovery in soft or highly fractured formations. Split barrel assemblies are available in N, H, and P sizes.

Conventional Coring
Conventional coring consists of a core barrel attached to drill
rods (AW-1 ¼ OD or NW-2” OD) that cores 10 ft. per run. The barrel
is then pulled and disassembled to retrieve the rock. You then
re-assemble the barrel and continue.
