The electromagnet is a simple holding device, when energized it will attach itself to a flat steel surface with high force. When de-energized the attracting force is switched off. Most common versions need to be energized to develop force, like our DSD4020 series of electromagnets.

Electromagnet force ratings are based on ideal conditions. Variations in temperature, iron content, thickness and finish of the mating part will affect the holding force.
