5-ALA is applied in variety of scientific fields with wide range. Examples of applications are shown below. Improvement of harvest yield or increase of plant greenness Supplement for culture of microorganism or cells from animals Research relating production of active oxygen derived from accumulation of excess amount of porphirins Photodynamic diagnosis for cancer research.

1. 5-ALA is used in variety ways to treat skin problems and also in cosmetics. It works extremely well on the skin cancer patient and acne problems. It is also used in photo dynamic therapy and has trichosis effects.
2. 5-ALA is usesd in area of Photodynamic therapy (photodynamic therapy, PDT).
3. 5-ALAcan also be used in fertilizer and bio-degradable herbicide. The functional fertilizer that activates thephotosynthesis when it is applied to leaves
