What is ASME SA423/ASTM A423?
This specification covers standards for minimum-wall-thickness, seamless, and electric-resistance welded low-alloy steel tubes to be used for pressure containing parts, that is economizers, and for other corrosion resistant applications. Steel tubes shall either be processed to hot or cold finish. All tubes shall be normalized or given such heat treatment as may be necessary to conform to the requirements of this specification.

ASME SA423 Corten Steel Pipes Grade 1 are high-strength alloy pipes
made of molybdenum and chromium as the primary elements also these
pipes are used mainly in oil and gas transmission, water pipelines,
and other power plants. The material is suitable for extreme
temperature changes and has excellent corrosion resistance.
ASTM SA423 Corten Steel Pipes GRADE 1 are also known as weathering steel or corten steel. This corten steel is a series of steels designed to eliminate the need for coating and to produce stable rust-like looks after being exposed to the atmosphere over many years. The substance is corrosion-resistant, and the unprotected upper surface develops a tarnish. Once produced, the tarnish avoids environmental exposure, allowing the material's core to stay protected from corrosion for extended periods.
