The outstanding feature of the external rotor motors is their compact, flat design, which results from integrating the external rotor motor into the impeller. "Blowers" refers to devices with scroll housing, while centrifugal fans are shipped without scrolls.

Centrifugal fans with forward curved blades always require a spiral housing. Their characteristic features are a low noise level, relatively small air flow with a high increase in static pressure, and space-saving application.
