Food-Grade PP Sheet For Safe Tray And Chopping Board Manufacturing
PP sheets (polypropylene sheets) are used in manufacturing food-safe
trays and cutting boards, with core advantages of strong chemical stability, impact resistance, and easy cleaning. They can simultaneously meet the safety requirements for food
contact and the durability needs for daily use. The specific
benefits are categorized into four types as follows.
- Food-contact-grade material: Complies with international safety standards such as FDA (U.S.
Food and Drug Administration) and EU 10/2011 (EU Regulation on Food
Contact Materials). It does not release toxic substances (e.g.,
plasticizers, heavy metals) at room temperature and medium-low
temperatures (usually -20°C to 120°C), thus preventing food
contamination.
- Odorless and non-odor-absorbing: The material itself is odorless and does not absorb grease, fishy
smells, or other odors from food. This avoids cross-taste between
different ingredients, making it particularly suitable for trays or
cutting boards used in scenarios like fresh food, cooked food, and
baking.
- Impact-resistant and unbreakable: PP sheets have good toughness and are not prone to cracking or
breaking when subjected to external impacts (e.g., tray stacking,
chopping on cutting boards). Their service life is much longer than
that of traditional wooden, ceramic cutting boards or ordinary
plastic sheets.
- Wide temperature resistance range: They can withstand low temperatures of -20°C (suitable for
refrigerator cold storage/freezing trays) and high temperatures of
120°C (can be briefly cleaned with hot water, and some modified PP
can withstand higher temperatures). They are not easily deformed
under high temperatures, adapting to the temperature requirements
of various food processing scenarios.
- Smooth surface and non-water-absorbent: The surface of PP sheets is dense and non-porous, so they do not
absorb water or trap dirt like wooden cutting boards, nor do they
easily breed bacteria (e.g., E. coli, Salmonella), reducing food safety risks.
- Easy to rinse and chemical-resistant: They can be directly rinsed with clean water or food-grade
detergents, and are even compatible with dishwasher cleaning.
Meanwhile, they are resistant to most weak acid and alkali
detergents (e.g., dish soap) and will not suffer surface damage or
material aging due to chemical corrosion.
- Lightweight: The density of PP material is approximately 0.9g/cm³ (lower than
water), so the trays made from it are lightweight, facilitating
manual handling or automated assembly line transportation and
reducing logistics costs.
- Easy to process and shape: Through processes such as injection molding, cutting, and
welding, it can be made into trays (e.g., with partitions, non-slip
patterns) or cutting boards (e.g., round, square) of different
sizes and shapes, adapting to the storage and processing needs of
different foods.
