Product description

Stainless steel 304 wire rope with 3x7 hollow core standard construction is used as a guard rope, and in oceanography applications such as anchor mooring, salvage operations, or maneuvering underwater scientific instruments. Stainless steel 304, also called 18-8, is corrosion-resistant, and withstands high temperatures for a wide range of operation. Stainless steel 304 is a versatile material, commonly used, versatile material used in a wide variety of applications, and in saline atmospheres. 3x7 hollow core has three strands of wire rope with seven wires in each strand, formed helically around a hollow core. 3x7 hollow core is flexible and fatigue-resistant.


Structure of stainless-steel wirerope

  1. IWSC (Independent Wire Strand Core ) : The core consists of a strand made of the same material as the outside strands of the wirerope. These strands are combined in configurations such as 3x7, 7x7 and 7x19. This structure can be used universally as a mechanical element and features excellent rigidity and flexibility. These are used in a wide range of applications, including office equipment, automobiles, audio equipment, interior equipment, and leisure equipment.

  2. IWRC (Independent Wire Rope Core) : The core consists of a wirerope, around which the outside strands are twisted. The core wirerope and strands are combined in configurations such as {(7x7) + (1x9) x8}, etc. This structure is used for mechanical elements that require high flexibility. As durability in the original form is low due to easy deformation under contact stress, it is usually coated with a synthetic resin such as nylon.

The wirerope is twisted in either Z-lay or S-lay. The Z-lay is commonly used.


Three important parameters of stainless steel wire rope


To understand the stainless steel wire rope should start from three important parameters, they are the sum of the breaking tension of the wire rope, the minimum breaking force of the wire rope, the total force of the broken wire rope, and the different parameters and the applicable situation. How can we get the information of these parameters? Please see the details of the following.
A) the total breaking force of the wire rope (also known as the breaking load of the wire rope). Calculated Breaking Load, abbreviated as C.B.L.) its definition is: according to the tensile strength of wire rope steel wire, and the metal section of the corresponding steel wire of the calculation of the wire rope theory breaking tension.
{(metal cross section area of steel wire) X (tensile strength of steel wire) = = (sum of broken tensile force of wire rope)
Attention: there is a lot of change in the structure of wire rope and the configuration of steel wire, and in the same wire rope, the tensile strength of steel wire can be different within a certain range, with both strength tolerance and artificial selection of steel wire with different strength in design. Therefore, the cross-sectional area is the cross-sectional area of each steel wire, and the tensile strength is also for each wire. The total breaking force of all steel wires in the wire rope will be added to the total breaking force of the wire rope. We do not recommend the use of (wire rope nominal diameter) X (wire rope nominal tensile strength) method to calculate the total breaking force.
B) the minimum breaking force of the wire rope (also known as the minimum breaking load of the wire rope). English: Minminum Breaking Load, abbreviated as M.B.L.)
It is defined as the sum of the breaking force of the wire rope multiplied by the twisting coefficient of the corresponding wire rope structure (also known as the minimum breaking force coefficient).
(wire rope breaking force summation) X (twist factor) = (minimum breaking force of wire rope)
Note: the twisting coefficient is a relation to the structure of a wire rope. A coefficient derived from experience and theory is a coefficient specified by a person, and there will be some changes in different periods. Different factories usually choose different values. Therefore, the steel wire rope of different structures, or different period products, or different production plants, even the sum of the broken tensile force of the wire rope, but the minimum breaking tension of the wire rope may be very different.
C) measured the total breaking force of the wire rope (also known as the measured breaking load of the wire rope). English: Actual Breaking Load, usually not abbreviated)
It is defined as the result of breaking the wire rope sample on the wire rope tensile testing machine.
Conclusion: the three breaking force values of the same wire rope are: A > C > B.
